Once upon a time, there were three yogi friends. Two had just enrolled in teacher training and were ready to embark upon a new career but weren't quite sure how their backgrounds in marketing and recruiting would play into this new role. They decided to visit a friend in Vermont and plan a trip to Wanderlust. While looking through the website and selecting classes, the two yogis began to wonder why they were driving 5 hours to go to a festival when there were so many great yoga teachers right here. The light bulb went off and the seed was planted. Why couldn't they plan a yoga festival in Maine - one that supported the local community and highlighted all the amazing talent in their backyard? The two yogis called their dear friend, event specialist and detail queen to tell her of their idea. Within minutes, she was on board with an enthusiastic, "I'm in!"
The yogis began searching for the perfect location, making calls, learning website design, and making lots and lots of lists. The tiny little festival began to grow and grow. The more people they spoke with the bigger it got and the resounding response to their idea was, "Yes, it is time."
So here we are today, six months prior to our first Maine YogaFest and our "little festival that could" keeps chugging along. We believe this is the beginning of something big for our community and have already been changed by the many selfless acts of kindness from others to make this event happen. The dreams in us bow to the dreams in you. Namaste.
