MYF Workshop: Guided Ashtanga
After my first class, an Introduction to Yoga in Santa Barbara, California, I left feeling like I had never felt before, almost high, so clear and alive. A door had opened, and I knew yoga would be important in my life in some way. Now, 20 years later, yoga still holds the same potency and continues to offer a unique sense of clarity that connects me to my whole life, to others, to the community - here in Portland, and worldwide! That's why yoga!
Something my students/clients don't know about me..
I have an insatiable creative streak that manifests in many ways - among them designing sets, choreography and musical scores for Butoh dance, a form that originated in Japan following the bombing of Hiroshima - a response to the horror. It's very internal, and the movement is originates from deep within, and takes both the audience and performer to mysterious, unknown, universal places. Perhaps they will see me in a performance someday...
Favorite beach or park in Maine?
This March will mark my third year living in Portland, and being able to walk along the coast here is such a delight. I don't know if I have a favorite yet, but Ferry, Scarborough, and Willard (with its nearness to Scratch Bakery, of course) are certainly beautiful and special!
