Fun Fact Friday:
Who inspires you?
I'm really inspired by my friend Natalie. After years of working as a printmaker/landscaper, she decided to go back to school at the age of 42 to become a physicians' assistant--something she had wanted to do for years but had been told that she wasn't capable enough. Natalie consistently does things that scare her--she places her trust in the universe and dives in.
First yoga experience?
I took yoga as a gym class in college after a pretty traumatizing women's self defense class. The self defense teachers spent a lot of time lecturing us about why we should be afraid, why we shouldn't do things, why we shouldn't trust anyone--it was very poorly run and not what that kind of class should be about at all. I decided to take yoga next because that class had been so stressful! I wore my pajama pants and I'm not sure we even had mats, it was well before the yoga boom. But the class was perfect, all about what we were capable of, trusting in ourselves, learning to love our own potential. The timing couldn't have been better.
What makes a good teacher?
Someone who is always willing to be a student.
