Because it is going to be really COOL! Of course it will be cool but I believe that the MYF is a unique opportunity for those practicing yoga at any level to come together. I wanted to be a part of that and to support such an incredible concept.
What does yoga mean to you as a professional businesswoman?
Although selling real estate can be stressful, it is also the single most rewarding (paying) job I have ever had. Every day I have the opportunity to be a part of someone’s life by bringing insight and expertise to the process of buying or selling real estate. I get to use my best skills and to help people at the same time!
Yoga is an essential part of my “practice” as a realtor, parent, and human. It allows me to be totally present and not to be distracted by the finer points of a real estate negotiation, my child’s social life, or some random meal plan.
Practicing Yoga is an opportunity for me to focus on just me and everyone in my life benefits.
How has yoga helped you or your clients?
Where do I begin?
As a last ditch effort to avoid surgery 25 years ago, an orthopedic surgeon suggested that I try yoga to strengthen my shoulder muscles. After a few thousand downward dogs, surgery was ruled out and a love of yoga was born. The physical healing power of yoga came into my life again when my husband sustained a nasty bicycling injury in which he shattered his pelvis and was unable to walk for three months. No amount of physical therapy could touch the lingering pain and inflexibility that were left after the wounds had healed. He joined me for a yoga class and has been a convert ever since. He is back on the bike now, stronger than ever. He attributes his success to his bull-headed determination and to his weekly visits to the yoga studio.
The physical benefits are obvious but so are the emotional ones. A dear friend enduring a challenging breakup practically dragged me to a class at Greener Postures last year. She found that yoga gave her real mental and physical balance during a very turbulent time in her life. She found so much solace in the practice that she wanted to share the experience with friends. Yoga proved to be a life saver (and life changer) for her and it continues to be for so many others.
