MYF Workshop: Yoga For Athletes
Yoga can be the perfect complement to your athletic endeavors. This is not intense, athletic yoga; rather, the postures are carefully selected and instructed in a way to counterbalance your training. You can expect to work on strength, balance, core, flexibility, and restorative postures, as we explore the breath and mental focus and how it applies to your sport or training.
Fun Fact Friday:
Top benefit from a regular yoga practice?
While it's difficult to pin point one benefit from my yoga practice, I would have to say that without yoga being an integral part of my life, I would not be a runner. My yoga keeps me running, both mentally and physically. Yoga helps me stay focused and present, as well as injury-free. It has taught me how to listen to my body and to run mindfully. My running goals are achieved because of my yoga practice.
Favorite Maine adventure/road trip?
This is another tough one! I have a lot of favorite nooks in this beautiful state, but one of my absolute favorite places to be is Bar Harbor. It is about a three hour drive from my home, so it can officially count as a day trip. The scenery is breathtaking and you get the best of both worlds; mountains and ocean. Running in that area is both challenging (can you say, HILLS?) and rewarding, yet the hours simply fly by. I have many special memories with my husband and sons in that area, and look forward to many more!
