I became a yoga student in 2001. I was intrigued and addicted to hot vinyasa. I experimented with Power Yoga and Bikram. In 2009 I found Iyengar yoga, which completely shifted my perspective. It taught me to meet my body where it is with a posture, and not push it to a perfect (as seen on ads) pose. I dove into the body-positve, and inclusive yoga movements. I aim to teach class being mindful of language use and pronouns, so that all people feel welcome. In 2015 I made a commitment to myself, and my practice when I completed my 200-hour teacher training with Jasmine Cherazi and others who directly trained with Sri Dharma Mitra in NYC. I trained with those teachers at Yoga District in Washington, DC. I make yoga fun and accessible.
In 2011, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from The College of Saint Rose, in Albany, New York. It was during grad school that I met Carissa. My background in Education has given me the experience, teaching diverse and unique populations, and the means with which to create my own yoga sequences and perinatal education courses. As a firm believer that knowledge is power; I infuse all of my classes (hatha or prenatal) with a theme. My belief in justice is what drives me to continually seek more information, so that I can connect and share it with others. If this sounds like your kind of yoga, please get in touch with me. I teach private and group classes. In 2016 realized a need in our community for families to have access to information, education and resources so they can make informed decisions for their pregnancy, birth, and newborn. Although birth is natural it's not always easy. I offer a supportive space and group discussions pertaining to topics on the entire birth spectrum. I am a DONA trained doula. I believe all families have the right to feel respected and supported during this transformational time in their lives. I identify as, and proudly support LGBTQ families.
