Class Descriptions

Backbends - This is a class to inspire people to love backbends.  We will explore ways + techniques to soften stiffness so backbends feel more accessible and inviting.  Heart openers can be fun and not something to fear!

Arm Balances & Hip Openers -
Play with gravity + let go of resistance in the hips to find freedom + levity.  Explore in-depth arm balances and let go of what holds us back from our full power.  We'll find strength and grace through challenge as we safely open the hips and have fun balancing on our hands.

Kathleen Swinbourne

Kathleen is a licensed massage therapist and a nationally certified yoga instructor. Since 1998 she has been a dedicated teacher and practitioner of yoga and well – being. In December 2001 she founded The Yoga Exchange, a successful yoga studio in Portland, Maine, which she owned and operated until May 2010. She maintains the business, The Yoga Exchange, which now offers Thai Yoga Massage and Private Yoga Instruction in Denver, Colorado.

Kathleen’s unique teaching style and approach to Thai Yoga Massage blends 15 years of extensive study of the body through attending Massage school and training in a variety of yoga traditions including; Kripalu, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara and Yoga Therapy.

She has a strong background in athleticism, martial arts and physical rehabilitation. Her understanding of anatomy and the body’s energy systems provide both introductory and experienced students with a special way to explore, heal, and integrate the body, mind and spirit.

Kathleen’s desire is to bring an awareness of the power of the individual through movement, bodywork and inner enlightenment. She encourages her students and clients by setting an example of strength and conviction. She is known for her heart-felt connection with people allowing playfulness to mingle with compassion.
